What We Do

Tamalpais Pacific makes grants and loans to other 501(c)(3) entities experienced in creating, operating, or supporting the development of affordable housing. Grant Applicants typically request funding to aid in site acquisition, pre-development and planning expenses, construction, or delivery of related services. Awards are based on a Grantee’s assessment of environmental, physical, communal and social needs; the feasibility of the project; the Grantee’s resources and ability to procure necessary funding, regulatory approvals and entitlements; the Grantee’s ability to construct and rehabilitate housing; and where applicable, the ability to provide housing based social services.
Grant Applications are presented at quarterly meetings of the Board of Trustees. Since inception, Tam Pacific has awarded and funded over eighty grants. Some examples of the projects that we have helped to support include:
Homeward Bound: construction OMA Village family housing, Novato; King Street Senior Housing, Larkspur; pre-development Mill Street Homeless Shelter and Housing, San Rafael.
Habitat for Humanity Greater San Francisco: construction of homes in Novato.
EAH: construction San Clemente complex in Corte Madera; Drake’s Way in Larkspur; Piper Court rehabilitation, Fairfax.
Eden Housing: construction The Fireside Apartments, Mill Valley; Warner Creek Senior Apartments, Novato; pre-development for Whistlestop senior housing, San Rafael.
Community Land Trust Assoc. of West Marin: construction Mesa Apartments in Point Reyes; pre-development Coast Guard property family housing, Point Reyes Station.
Buckelew Programs: renovations Drake and Avanti House group homes; construction Helen Vine Center, San Rafael.
